Two clinicians, three clinics, and a tool we wanted badly enough to build ourselves.
A letter from Andrew Sabarre

Every person moves differently, especially when they’re injured. The nuance is the whole point.

The problem
We’re busy clinicians. We see patients back to back all day.
The last thing we want to do after dinner or after the kids are in bed is spend another hour building exercise programs. But we care about quality, and we care about our patients. So we did it anyway. Late. Inconsistently. Feeling guilty either way.
The tools that promised to save us time didn’t. They handed our patients a library of generic videos, filmed by someone we’ve never met, cueing the way they would...not the way you would.
Every person moves differently, especially when they’re injured. They need individualized, specific cues, the exact ones you’d give them in person, in your voice, in your words. The nuance is the whole point. The nuance is what they’re paying for.

Who we are
Boon was started by two clinicians, for clinicians.
Christina and I have a combined 35+ years of hands-on clinical experience across three multi-disciplinary clinics we still run today. We’re in the treatment room every week. That’s not a founder-story flourish, it’s how the product gets tested.
Do Well was the first clinic on Boon, and it still runs on the same version we hand to you. Building inside a working practice keeps us honest: if it doesn’t earn its place in a real clinical workflow, it doesn’t ship.
Behind us is a small, senior product and engineering team. The clinicians know what the work actually looks like. The builders make sure the tool holds up to it.

What we believe
The clinician is the treatment.
Software should carry your expertise further, not paper over it.
Personalization is non-negotiable.
Generic HEPs don't get followed. Specific cues, delivered by someone the patient trusts, do.
Privacy is table stakes.
Patient data deserves the same care you take with the patient.
We build differently.
Every design decision passes through one question: would we actually use this on a Tuesday afternoon with patients?

All four of us
Startup Week, all of us out of the clinic at once
A rare thing. Most weeks two of us are in treatment rooms and two are shipping, which is exactly why the product looks like it does.
